Once Upon A Bug: A Look At Bug Fables for Nintendo Switch

Bug Fables looks like Paper Mario. That can’t be denied. But is it just a Paper Mario copycat or is there something more to it? Let’s take a look at Bug Fables for Nintendo Switch eshop!

Bug Fables caught me by surprise. This game wasn’t even on my radar. It was only a couple of days ago that I sort of heard of it but thought “Bugs? eh.” I had no idea what it was or anything.

Then yesterday I was looking on the internet and someone mentioned Bug Fables. I looked at the eshop and saw what it looked like! Wow. Then I watched the GameXplain review of the game and another review too.

I knew I had to have the game. I love Paper Mario. Bug Fables looked like Paper Mario. Even its battle system is similar to that game. I knew that this was a must download for me. So I downloaded it and…

I wasn’t prepared.

Bug Fables isn’t a Paper Mario clone. Yes it has paper craft characters like that series. It has carboard buildings too. Its battle system will remind you of Thousand Year Door.

And yet.

This game has its own unique setting, story, and characters. The world of bugs is more fantastic than you’d think. The fantasy element of this game is so well done. There are lots of NPCs, places to visit, and things to find. Bug Fables is more inspired by Paper Mario than a clone.

The graphics have that paper craft, made feeling but it doesn’t look exactly like Paper Mario. This is a bug’s world and it looks like it! A lot of craft and care was put into this game. You can tell the developers wanted to make the game look as good as possible. The graphics have floored me. Wow.

I’m not very far into Bug Fables yet but what I’ve seen so far has been an absolute blast. This is the kind of game I needed right now. Bug Fables isn’t a dark gloomy game. Kids could enjoy this game. Adults who love Paper Mario will love this game. Heck, even if you’ve never played Paper Mario or maybe you are not a fan, you still may want to check this game out.

Bug Fables is well written, has wonderful graphics, a fun turn-based battle system, puzzles, and stuff to find. I’ve only scratched the surface of this game! I can’t wait to play more!

Have you checked out Bug Fables? What do you think of it?
