Nintendo Announce Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Remakes
Nintendo have today announced Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, a set of remakes for both the 2DS and 3DS. There’s been a lot of hints in recent months that new and fresh versions of the GBA classics would be on their way – including references in Pokemon X and Y – but it’s great to see that it’s finally official.
The press release promises a “dramatic story within a spectacular new world,” although it has to be presumed that it’ll largely follow the same basic premise as the originals. Like Heart Gold and Soul Silver, expect there to be some new additions to the plot, as well as all the features you know and love from more recent iterations of the franchise. Following the style of Pokemon X and Y, it’ll be the first of the old games to be re-imagined in the 3D engine.
While the email came from the Pokemon Company’s PR, the official press site is yet to be updated with extra information or pictures, so expect something of a blow-out in the next few hours. One things for sure though: this is one that fans have been waiting a long time for, and it’ll be great to see locations we know and love be re-imagined for a new generation.
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire will be available worldwide in November 2014.
EDIT
Nintendo have also released a trailer for the pair.
