EA and Respawn to Continue Publishing Deal
Talks of sequels, extra platforms and an extended DLC release schedule might not have been enough to tip us all off that EA really wants Titanfall to become an industry staple. Thankfully, in an investor call today, the publisher has confirmed that they have extended their deal with Vince Zampella and the team at Respawn. That means Titanfall 2 is definitely happening.
From Twitter:
EA is continuing its partnership with Vince Zampella and Respawn … to bring new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide. – AW

What does this actually mean? Without months of context, very little to the average gamer. Anything built by Respawn will be published under the EA banner, and will presumably be funded and marketed by them as well. In reality, we can see this as an official confirmation of further games in the Titanfall franchise, beyond talking head interviews with people directly involved in the franchise. On top of that, there’s the very definite idea that future titles in the series will end up on PS4, given that both members of Respawn and EA have seemingly regretted going exclusive. That is unless Microsoft jumps in and asks for more exclusivity, although that’d be an expensive deal to make considering the success of Sony’s latest, and the amount of people clamouring to play Titanfall on a PlayStation device.
All in all, a muted but telling announcement, and one that’ll become far more interesting in 2015.
