Darksiders Warmastered Edition Nintendo Switch Review
Darksiders Warmastered Edition for the Nintendo Switch has previously appeared on other platforms. This is the first time I’ve ever played the game. I did play the second game on Wii U, but the first game is very different from that one. Is Darksiders Warmastered Edition fun? Here is my review of the game for the Nintendo Switch!
The story presented in Darksiders Warmastered Edition is dark and depressing. Its cutscenes are very well done and I think some people will enjoy its story. Though, this game is definitely not for kids and only older fans should seek this one out. Darksiders doesn’t really focus too much its story overall. Its gameplay is far more important.
Darksiders Warmastered Edition is an action/adventure game. Its gameplay is very similar to God of War, even though the game’s story and graphics seem more like Devil May Cry. The main character of Darksiders is big and a bit slow moving like Kratos. The combat is still very much a button masher.
As you progress in the game, you get more character upgrades either by the story or via an in-game shop. These upgrades add some variety to the gameplay and that keeps things from getting too repetitive.
There is some exploration in this game, the environments are not too small, but overall you do find yourself going from one to another point in a linear fashion. Darksiders is not an open world game like the second one and doesn’t do anything that we haven’t seen before, but it is a fun game.
The controls are pretty simple, although it did take me a little bit to get use to the game’s gliding mechanic. There are no Nintendo Switch specific controls to this game.
If you’re looking for an action/adventure for your Nintendo Switch and like games like God of War and Devil May Cry, then Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is the game for you. The game’s graphics are pretty great too!
Darksiders’ graphics remind me a lot of Devil May Cry. Both games have a realistic and very dark tone to them. There are lot of blacks and greys and not too much color to the areas that you explore. Darksider’s graphics are excellent and the game looks great in handheld mode and on the TV. There is a way to change the visual quality between high quality and high performance. I tried both settings and I didn’t see much difference. Darksiders is just a good looking game no matter.
Meanwhile, the game’s music is good, though nothing too special. The voice acting is very good and the sound effects are not bad.
Darksiders is a great game that will especially appeal to action/advneture fans.
If you like games like God of War and Devil May Cry, then you’ll like Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. Since neither of those games are on the Switch, Darksiders is a game that older fans of the genre should seek out right away. Darksiders is fun, action packed, and has excellent visuals.
A digital code was provided for this review. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
