Mass Effect 2 Gets Controller Support
For some inexplicable reason, the Mass Effect franchise doesn’t support controllers on PC. That is about to change, starting with Mass Effect 2.
Forget struggling with imperfect options in MotionInJoy or Xpadder – modder Moonshine has gone as far as to enable the full Xbox 360 experience on PC.
That includes UI implementation to the point where you’ll almost believe it’s native support.
While this has definitely required some effort and dedication, it seems like at least some of the assets are hidden away in the original realeases, begging the question “why were they never finished?”
The Mass Effect 2 files, and instructions on how to install them, can be found here.
Mass Effect and Mass Effect 3 were in development but issues with Moonshine’s laptop has meant delays. There was an IndieGoGo campaign to support him in buying a new machine, but it went poorly, raising only £15 of his £750 goal.
He’s still supporting his Mass Effect 2 release, making fixed from his local library. For that reason, there may be some minor issues while playing, although for those hoping to playing with their 360 remote, this solution is far better than nothing.
There are no exact dates for when Mass Effect and Mass Effect 3 will be available.
