Major PS4 Update Coming Soon
Sony have announced that a major PlayStation 4 update is in the works, and that it’ll be available to download in the coming weeks. Although they’ve not yet revealed everything that the update will do, they did give us a sneak peak at some of the new additions that they’re bringing to the Share button, hopefully just the tip of the iceberg for what we can expect.
From the Official PlayStation Blog:
Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on.
I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks.
There were three big reveals alongside the announcement. Firstly, there’ll be a new “Rich Video Editor” included on the system, that’ll allow you to edit video ahead of uploading it. You’ll also be able to export and save gaming pictures and video to a USB drive in the future.
Most importantly, Sony announced that they’ll be turning off the HDCP option, meaning that those with video capture hardware will be able to capture up to a full 1080p without issue.
In closing, Sony said that there’d be plenty for everybody to get excited about, and to watch this space for further reveals. What have they got in store? Well, there’s plenty that people are excited for and enough that Sony has confirmed is coming in the past. The question is this: how much will make it to what will most likely be an April update?
