The Last of Us Movie IS Based on the Game
There’s a Last of Us film in the works, and since it’s been announced fans have been wondering just how it’s going to go down. Their favourite game hitting the silver screen is a big deal, and, as has been proven time and time again before, it could very easily go wrong. One thing might make those dedicated few feel better (or even worse), however: the film will be an adaptation of the game.
Speaking with IGN about it, creator Neil Druckmann clarified.
It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us. As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.
So there you go. There’s going to be a live action Joel and a live action Ellie (perhaps ironically played by Ellen Page), and it’ll somehow follow their exploits as displayed in the game. How will they capture the little quiet moments that made The Last of Us’s story stand out? How will they fit a relatively long game into an hour and a half segment? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to do another story set in that world?
All these questions will be answered in the coming months and years.
