Xenoblade Chronicles X Japanese Direct Tranlation

Nintendo recently held a direct for Monolith Soft’s next addition in the Xenoblade franchise, Xenoblade Chronicles X which will launch in Japan on April 29 and later in North America sometime in 2015 exclusively for Wii U.

The 24-minute direct focuses on many new features unseen in previous demonstrations of the game that include open world exploration, battle systems, and GamePad functionality.

The Direct was hosted by several characters from the game that explore the use of mechs, the hopper camera mechanic, and new locations on the planet Mira like New Los Angeles and various mountains, lakes, and caves as well as a glimpse into the 5 continents.

The video has been translated if you turn on the captions, and it really allows you to get a feel for the flow of the game as well as the quirkiness of some of the characters. The video showcased new races that you will encounter, enemies, free ranging monsters, flying around in mechs referred to as “Dolls” and a teleportation system using the GamePad. More interesting is that Xenoblade Chronicles X will support Off-TV Play via the GamePad according to director Koh Kokima.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is the spiritual Successor to 2010’s Xenoblade Chronicles which will be receiving a re-release on the New 3DS XL on April 10. The Wii game was extremely impressive as it offered an open world experience with an incredible story. Two massive titans, the Bionis, and the Mechonis, forever frozen in combat on an endless ocean planet. Eventually, life forms begin to evolve on the titans. Humans, known as Homs, begin to live on the Bionis, while mechanical life forms known as the Machina live on the Mechonis. Both of these species have been engaged in war for the entirety of their existence. Nintendo also announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will support the Shulk amiibo by granting players Collectors Coins in the new Collection Mode

Xenoblade Chronicles X will focus on the philosophies explored within Xenoblade and its predecessors Xenogears, and Xenosaga, which all share various similarities throughout the same universe. The game grasps the gorgeous art direction of the Xenoseries and is set to captivate audiences with its unique man vs machine style of prose, free roaming mech battles, and the bonds held between mankind’s last remaining saviors.
