Streets of Rage 2 3D Gets Rated
I remember picking up Streets of Rage 2 with my little brother when it released back in 1992 right around Christmas. We were pretty poor that year, and to save my mother the headache from having to return Altered Beast and stand in the festive lines, she decided that she would just take us to Toys R Us’ to pick out any one game of our choosing.
We had to share of course, but we didn’t mind because we knew exactly what we were going to get. Streets of Rage 2 was all that we could think about then. I remember reading about the game in GamePro Magazine and it was far superior to the original that we had rented from Blockbuster. 4 characters, bigger sprites, tons of levels, new items, bigger action, and that same old 2-player beat em’ up bliss that we craved. It was nearly in our grasp.
We immediately ran to the game section and began to slide our cheeseburger faces all over the glass that was housing the games. I honestly had no idea what the cover even looked like and I was just rushing to find anything with Axel, Blaze, and Adam on it. Suddenly, my little brother gasped and like a grail behind a poison dart trap, we saw what could possibly be the best beat em’ up game ever made. We bought it, took it home, and the rest is history. It was then that I decided that Streets of Rage one of my favorite franchises of all time. Little did I know that there would only be one more released in the franchise; however that is beside the point because Streets of Rage 2 is getting a re-release in 3D.
The Australian Classification Board recently rated Streets of Rage 2 3D. The rating was filed by Sega Europe LTD and is being developed by M2 who developed the other Sega 3D classics. No date has been released at this time, but I think it may be about time that I gave my brother a call and invited him over for some good old Streets of Rage 2.
