South Park PC Won’t Require uPlay
uPlay seems to have avoided the majority of the hate that EA’s Origin seems to get, although that doesn’t mean it gets all that much love. It’s still frustrating to load a game in Steam, only to have an entirely new program pop up out of nowhere, requiring new updates and processes. That’s why it’s good news that South Part: The Stick of Truth will be entirely Steamworks.
This was confirmed by the official Obsidian Twitter account yesterday.
@MacDragon Yep, it’s a Steam game, with Steam achievements, etc.

While the majority of PC gamers seem happy so long as their collection is sitting in Steam, others might be disappointed by the news.
@NBego Hi Nick, no sorry, Uplay is not integrated into SP:SOT at all.

It’s important to note that this probably isn’t suddenly going to become the norm for Ubisoft, who I imagine are still very much behind their uPlay platform. The reason it’s not included is almost certainly because of its history as a THQ title, before the company went bust. It’s hard to work out why exactly that makes it an exception – perhaps deals with Steam from before Ubisoft acquired the game? – but there you go.
