Angry Birds Trilogy has surpassed a million sales
Activision and Rovio have announced that their Angry Birds Trilogy has surpassed a million sales at retail. Released across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the 3DS, it’s only made more impressive when you consider that each of the games included in the set – Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio – are effectively available for no cost on mobile devices.
The Angry Birds series is perhaps the very archetype of a mobile game. Simple, addictive gameplay, clever level design and there isn’t a developer working in the industry today who wouldn’t mind having the sales associated with the franchise. From a small title on phones to an international phenomenon encompassing spin-off after spin-off – including Angry Birds Star Wars – and a bevy of merchandise, Angry Birds is undeniably the game to think of when talking mobile.
Rovio took the milestone opportunity to announce that the Angry Birds Trilogy will be making its way to Wii U. With both the gamepad and the TV at the developer’s disposal, the Wii U version of the game looks to be the definitive edition, taking in the increased control of the 3DS title, with the HD visuals expected from the 360 and PS3.
