Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Not Coming To PC
Ok, so Square Enix are playing this game. Despite the fact that a Game of the Year edition is almost certainly coming to PC, and despite the fact that it would make sense to have the new features of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition in that Game of the Year release, Eidos representatives are still saying that it isn’t going to happen.
An update to the official FAQ over at the forums clarified their current position:
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was designed and rebuilt from the ground up for next-generation consoles. At this time a PC update is not planned.
This may well be true. The Steam profile for the Tomb Raider GOTY edition on PC gave no indication that it was the same game launching later this month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Indeed, there was nothing explaining anything, outside of the presumption that the GOTY edition would contain previously released DLC bundled together. With that said, would it be unfair for PC gamers to expect the latest, “best” version of the game? If they’re putting the effort into re-releasing the game at all, it wouldn’t surprise anybody to learn that it was coming along with the updates of the Definitive Edition.
Whatever the deal, Square Enix are playing their cards close to their chest, and we won’t know for certain what’s happening on PC until next-gen versions have been released.
