Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 Release Date Announced
Square Enix have this morning announced a release date for the PlayStation 4 version of their massively multiplayer RPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Those that were expecting it shortly after launch are likely to be a little disappointed, but in the grand scheme of things it’s not too much of a wait.
A Realm Reborn will be available to purchase on the PlayStation 4 on April 14th, 2014. That means it’s a little less than three months away. Those absolutely desperate to get started will be happy to learn that there’s an early access program which you can be a part of simply by pre-ordering. Pre-orders open today, so you can go ahead and order from major retailers today. PS4 owners who by the limited edition (or PC/PS3 owners who had the limited editions on those machines) will gain access to an exclusive Fat Chocobo Mount, as well as a wind up Mog minion.
Those that already play A Realm Reborn on PlayStation 3 will be happy to learn they can transfer their account to the new-gen version for free. Transfer starts from 11th April and once you’ve done it, you can no longer play the PlayStation 3 version. If you want to play both versions, you’ll need a new copy of A Realm Reborn PS4.
A Realm Reborn beta will run for all PlayStation 4 owners from 22nd February, although there’s no information on how long it’ll run for.
