Alien: Isolation Announced
Looking for something to scare your socks off? Alien: Isolation looks like it might actually be that game, and while we’ve been disappointed by the IP before, SEGA look to have fixed things completely this time around. Horror? Check. Deadly aliens? Check. Unnecessary character link to previous entries? Check. Hell – it could even be a new entry in the film franchise.
Before you let the memory of Colonial Marines spoil this for you, watch the above trailer. It might be silly to get too excited about the whole thing, but it’s hard not to. An Aliens game that seems to be influenced by Amnesia? An Aliens game in which you’re not a junked up space marine with bullets to spare? It’s an exciting new direction for the franchise, and one that’ll hopefully pay off for the people behind it.
Isolation has you playing Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda. When the original Ripley headed out to space, she promised her daughter she’d be back for her eleventh birthday. That never happened, and, after an adult Amanda finds an audio recording from the Nostromo, she sees it as a chance to find out what happened. Things don’t go exactly the plan though, and Amanda finds herself being stalked by a single deadly predator. All she can do is run.
Alien: Isolation will be available to purchase on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC in late 2014.
