Yoshi’s Woolly World Coming in 2015

After a very disappointing launch in Yoshi's New Island on 3DS, Nintendo is quickly trying to win Yoshi's Island fans back with Yoshi's Wooly World. Wooly World is essentially Yoshi's Island, but the fact that everything is made out of yarn opens up the franchise to new, and welcomed, game play mechanics.

Everyone knew that Nintendo was bringing NFC figures to E3, but they official gave them a name: Amiibo. What sets Amiibo apart? Essentially, these toys will be used across a variety of different titles. Developers will determine how they will be used. The figures will evolve over time, and will have stats based on how you use them.

Mario Maker leaked from Nintendo’s E3?

The big three - Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony - do their best to keep all their E3 announcements as close to the vest as possible. The end goal: have as few leaked announcements as possible. Unfortunately, it appears as if at least one Nintendo title has been spoiled.

Natsume, the company behind the Harvest Moon series which has graced numerous platforms, announced that they would be showing off three new Nintendo titles at E3. Mario Kart 8 an Instant Success

Nintendo has an instant hit on their hands, and I'm pretty sure they - and everyone else for that matter - knew it before the game even launched. Opening weekend sales topped 1.2 million units. These numbers should not really be that surprising. After all, not only was Mario Kart 8 one of the most anticipated games of this generation, but there was also that amazing Club Nintendo promotion which gave those who registered Mario Kart 8 a free copy of another popular, Nintendo title. These titles varied by geographical location, but they all made purchasing Mario Kart 8 worth it.

Nintendo Announce Gamecube Controller Support for Wii U

As we head into E3, Nintendo continues to do little announcements, this time via twitter. Nintendo of America tweeted out a picture of a GameCube controller adapter for the Wii U, and announced that GameCube controllers would be useable when playing Super Smash Bros. This is great news, as the GameCube controller might be one of the best controllers Nintendo ever released.

What We Could See, Will See, and Won’t See for Wii U at E3 2014

E3 is approaching fast, and with only a little over a week until day 1, I decided I should get my Nintendo E3 predictions out there. Be warned: I have not canvassed the Internet to find what Nintendo is for sure announcing, and I definitely did not attempt to pass off the predictions of others as my own.

NFC Figures and Smash Bros not a Guarantee

I wrote a previous article on GamesReviews about Nintendo diving into collectible, playable toys market. A day after the article was posted, it was announced that these toys would be usable across a variety of Nintendo games and not be tied to one specific game franchise like the toys used in Disney Infinity or Skylanders. One such rumor was that the NFC figures, scanned using the NFC reader on the Wii U gamepad, would be used in Super Smash Bros.
