Console Gaming Needs Graphical Settings More Than Ever

Developers, I love you, but this conversation is overdue. Your choice of graphical settings consistently suck in console games, and it’s time to just hand over the reigns to the end user. I know, I know, this isn’t what consoles are all about. Just buy a PC, right? But these new consoles are powerful enough to do native 4K, 60FPS, and definitely not both. But why? On PC, players can make their own compromises, working out the kinks on as…

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Preview

Pioneers of Olive Town will not be hitting North American and European markets for a few weeks yet, but thanks to Marvelous Europe, we had the opportunity to take an early look at the English version of the game. The Japanese version has already launched in Asian markets. Pioneers of Olive Town marks the largest departure from the standard series in some time, featuring a lot of the same outstanding farming mechanics, but sprinkling in new mechanics unashamedly borrowed from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is a strong title, the Story of Seasons: Animal Crossing features fall a bit plat in many ways. Let's dive in!

It’s a Year Out, But I’m Worried About Pokemon Legends

It looks like Game Freak and Nintendo are finally making the dive into a full, open-world Pokemon RPG experience, and while the concept of that sounds amazing to me, the trailer shown off during the Pokemon Presents video today definitely left me wanting more. Is it unfair to make judgements based on an introductory trailer for a game we've never seen before? Absolutely, it is unfair. Am I going to do it anyways? Of course!

EwinRacing has been making gaming chairs for a long time now, and we've had the privilege to review many of those chairs. At this point, half of the GamesReviews staff is currently sitting in a EwinRacing Gaming Chair as we speak, and none of them have reverted back to old chairs, or purchased new. Shifting Stones Review

Shifting Stones is another strong example of the quick yet fun board games that GameWright is publishing and pushing to a wider audience. GameWright's titles scratch that 'premium' board game itch while remaining easy to play and relatively inexpensive to purchase. When you want to play a strategically deep, but easy to learn board game, Shifting Stones is almost all you'll need.

Abandon All Artichokes Review

GameWright has mastered the ability to launch easy to learn, fun to play board and card game titles that are appropriate for a variety of ages. While often easy to learn, the games take a fair bit of strategic skill to win, and most can be completed within 30 minutes or less. For folks as busy as my wife and I, finding a few spare minutes to play a GameWright game is becoming a daily exercise. Abandon All Artichokes falls into the same mold as other GameWright games, and is an easy recommendation for card game enthusiasts.

Euphoria Review

Stonemaier Games is in the business of creating fantastic titles that are not only beautiful to look at, but are extremely fun to play, with deep mechanics that will have you playing game after game. Although an older title in their catalogue, Euphoria is a deep worker placement game that doesn't limit players actions like some worker placement games, and can be an enjoyable time for all. And yes, that includes folks that 'hate' worker placement games.

Can Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons Coexist in the Same Launch Window?

Once both Harvest Moon: One World and Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town launch in March 2021, the next few months are going to be very interesting for both franchises. In my opinion, as someone who has invested dozens upon dozens of hours into these types of games, it's pretty difficult to have multiple different games on the go, and when you do, one will always take precedents. So the real question becomes - can Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons coexist in the same launch window?

Why Is Stonemaier So Succesful?

I've long been a fan of Stonemaier games, and so have many of my friends and family members. So often I'll ask other board game aficionados which developer and publisher they like the most, and consistently the folks at Stonemaier are at the top, or at least near the top, of that list. So it made me wonder - why is Stonemaier so successful. I chalk it up to a few key points, all of which have created one of the best board game teams of the last decade.
