GamrRank Closing This Week

GamrRank – a social network for gamers that ranked you based upon how much you talked about games across every other social network – will be closing over the next few days. An email announcing the closure was sent out this morning. We started GamrRank because we felt there was a desire from the gaming community to have a console, developer and publisher-independent service that combined what you play with what you talk about. Coolrom Hacked

A hacker has done what years of anti-piracy could not and has knocked out one of the most popular emulation websites on the internet. Coolrom has been knocked out by someone calling themselves Chloroform. Chloroform got rid of everything on the Coolroms page, instead playing a short piece of music and linking you to the Sinisterly forums. Sinisterly is a forum for people that enjoy coding, hardware, anime and more. Coolrom, which is ranked within the top 5000 sites on the web by Alexa, is currently completely inaccessible, with no information as to when (or even if) the site will make its return.

Available for $99 and compatible with every feature of the Vita, Vita TV is a cheaper option for those that don't necessarily want the Vita device, but want to play the games available for the system.

Major Nelson Discusses Albert Penello’s “30%” Comment

Albert Penello recently posted to Neogaf explaining a number of things about the Xbox One. One of the biggest comments to come out of the post was that there was no way Microsoft were going to give up a 30% hardware advantage to Sony, as some figures (and some rather over-excited consumers) might suggest. People DO understand that Microsoft has some of the smartest graphics programmers IN THE WORLD. We CREATED DirectX, the standard API’s that everyone programs against. So…

The PC version of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, SEGA's re-release of the classic Disney-inspired Genesis/Megadrive platformer, is locked at 30FPS. This puts it on par with the console version, but fans who were holding out for smoother animations are very disappointed.
