The Video Game Awards

Last year was the debut of the Video Game Awards, and it is back again this year. And to be honest, I didn't hate it. There was serious contention last year for specific awards - although like this year, the Golden Joysticks really sheds light on favorites - and that made for an entertaining night. The other great thing about these awards? Trailers, reveals, and a look forward to 2016. You won't want to miss it!

First Few Hours of Just Cause 3

I received a copy of Just Cause 3 a few days ahead of its December 1st launch and realized one thing really quickly: the story in this game is pretty bad, but that does not matter in the slightest. Do not get me wrong, this game is outstanding and anyone picking up a Just Cause title for the story is doing it wrong. Reality check: Just Cause 3 is all about explosions, bigger explosions, and incredibly and physically impossible explosions. Explosions, explosions, explosions.

Nintendo the ideal Holiday Gift?

People have actively criticized Nintendo ever since the Wii U came out a number of years ago, but the reality is that the Wii U and 3DS still might be the ideal family Video Game gift this holiday season. The reason for this? Local multiplayer, something not easily available on the Xbox One or the PS4. Even though the rumored Nintendo NX will be available next year, there are some great deals right now on the Wii U, and we should assume current game purchases will work on the new console in some way.

Sub-5.0 Scores for Mario Tennis Unwarranted

I've been playing Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash for a good while now, and frankly, it is not the greatest game. However, I have been reading reviews of others, and while I agree with almost 100% of what they are saying, I'm shocked by the scores I've been seeing. Most notably for me was the 3.5 the game scored from Nintendo World Report. Now, to be fair, I agree with everything the author said in his article, and in fact, have a lot of respect for the author himself. In my own experiences with the game, however, I've come to realize that Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is the perfect example of how there is a HUGE disconnect between reviewers and consumers.
