Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered Review
On the Playstation 1, a game called Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released. Then it had a sequel. And now both games are back, remastered, and on the Nintendo Switch. Are they worth checking out? Here’s our of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered!
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 follows Raziel as he goes on a quest for revenge against his former master Kain. The two games are remasters of Playstation 1 games and the story is the same as it was there. So is the gameplay.
Soul Reaver 1 and 2 have very similar gameplay: 3D action adventures with a bit of platformer mixed in. The second one is a bit more refined though and even lets you pick up weapons that enemies have left behind. Both games are still really fun and control well on the Nintendo Switch. Its great that the two are included in one package and the menu lets you choose which game to play and you can easily go back to the main menu whenever you want. You can also save wherever you want in both games but unfortunately you won’t always be taken back to where you left off.
Nothing has changed about these games other than a graphical upgrade that makes both look even better than they did previously. Soul Reaver 2 looks the best, with more detail in the environments and in the characters.
If you enjoyed the games on the Playstation 1 or you’ve never played them before, this remaster is well worth picking up.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 are excellent remasters of Playstation 1 classics. The gameplay is just as fun as it use to be and the graphics are a lot better than they were. Best of all: they are included in one package, one game, unlike some of the recent remasters of older games that individual games separated on your Switch menu. This is absolutely how you should do a remaster(s) and fans and people who’ve never played these games before should check it out.
