Mail Time Review
There are so many cozy cute indie games out there. Mail Time is another one and its out today. Is this cozy and cute game worth checking out? Here’s our review of Mail Time for the Nintendo Switch!
Mail Time stars a young postal worker who is sent out to deliver his first letter by his mother…we mean boss. Yes, his boss. You get to customize the worker’s look: from his mushroom hat to his skin color, hair, and more. And a short cutscene is shown along with his boss giving him his first mission.
Then off he goes into a small fantasy world full of talking animals and their various problems. Yes, this postal worker will be delivering more than just letters as he picks up many objects and letters and has to find their owners.
The gameplay is Mail Time is pretty simple: walking around talking to various animals, jumping sometimes, and gliding when needed. This is a slow paced game. There is no time limit and you can take as long as you need to deliver letters/items. You will gain various badges as you complete different objectives. Mail Time as a game for those who want something slow paced and relaxing.
However, as relaxing as the game is, its also very easy to get lost in this game. There is no map and so you’ll find yourself wandering around a lot and sometimes getting lost. It would have been nice to have a map to help you navigate back to areas you’ve already found. A map that fills in as you discover people and places would’ve been very handy and added to the relaxing nature of the game. Instead, getting lost can sometimes feel very frustrating.
Aside from getting lost though, Mail Time is cute and fun. The various animals dialogue can be pretty funny. This is a really nice game. It would’ve been nice to have a map but its still a game thats well worth checking out. It even looks cute too.
Mail Time is a really cute looking game. Its not as cel-shaded as Wind Waker but the game’s look still is similar to that game. Its very nice looking 3D game.
Overall, Mail Time is a lot of fun. Its slow pace won’t be for everyone and the lack of a map adds some uneccessary frustration to the game. That said, Mail Time is a game that offers a very neat experience and we recommend it. If you like a slow pace and don’t mind getting a little lost, Mail Time is something you should check out.
