Elsie Review
If you enjoy Mega Man and anime, well, we have a game for you! Check out our review of Eslie for the Nintendo Switch!
In Elsie, a robot is created to go after other robots. Its a simple story, with shades of Mega Man much like its gameplay. Elsie isn’t just a clone however. It has some cool unique features too.
The gameplay in Elsie is action/adventure platforming. It plays a lot like a Mega Man game: shoot the enemy, jump over obstacles, and get upgrades for your character. The biggest difference is that each time you die and leave the levels, back to the main hub, when you go back in the levels are different. Elsie has procedurally generated levels.
The levels are not plain looking however, each have their own nice platforms and as you progress more area themes: hot, cold, etc are revealed. Elsie isn’t an easy game though and you’ll die a lot. There are some cool accessibility features though that might help you.
Elsie has an invincible feature for those who want to turn it on and not worry about dying. It does make the game easier for sure but it does allow you to see more of the game. There are also features to increase the games font and other helpful options.
The font was pretty small at first, but if you increase it too much some of the dialogue gets cut off. You have to find a good middle ground for sure. Other options include reducing screen shaking, turning blurs and backgrounds off, and more. Its nice to have options and it adds to the fun of the game. We do wish there was an option to manually save though.
Overall, Elsie is a very good and its a nice looking game too!
Elsie has neat anime cutscenes and even its regular graphics are very anime inspired. The characters are also very anime-like. It’s a very nice looking game and its fun too.
If you enjoy Mega Man style games and you like anime too, then you’ll want to check out Elsie. Even if you are not a fan of either, you may find something to enjoy with this one. It’s a lot of fun and the ever changing levels give it a lot of replay value. Eslie is definitely a game to check out on the Nintendo Switch eshop!
