Do you miss the old days of pen, paper, and dice rpgs? Oh wait, do you still play those types of rpgs? There’s nothing at all wrong that! Of course, you could be like me and you never played those rpgs at all. For any of the people listed above, as long as you like rpgs, then you should be interested in Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Deluxier Edition for the Nintendo Switch. Why? Read on to find out why and whether or not this is a game you should pick up!

In Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Deluxier Edition, the player creates their party and that party sits down at a table. From there, the characters and the player go on a different kind of rpg adventure. Knights of Pen and Paper is a combination of old school paper, pen, and dice rpgs mixed with a visual turn-based rpg.

So dice will be rolled automatically for you, there is a dungeon master, but you also get to see the dungeons, towns, castles (and more!) that the characters visit. And the turn-based battles play out like a lot of video game turn-based battles happen: you have a menu and you select an attack for each of your party members. Knights of Pen and Paper’s battle system is pretty traditional, but the game’s unique setup makes it something special.

Knights of Pen and Paper’s story is very simple but its funny dialogue makes you want to see what will happen next. The game also really good controls. It supports both touch screen and button controls. I prefered playing this game with the buttons and analog stick, however the touch screen controls do work well too.

Oh and I should mention this game’s graphical style. Knights of Pen and Paper has a very charming 8-bit style and a ton of detail was put into everything from the menus to every place that you visit!

Overall, Knights of Pen and Paper is a great game. All of its old school elements and regular rpg elements combine to create a fun game. If you like rpgs at all, here is another one on the Nintendo Switch eshop that is well worth checking out!
