Grounded Nintendo Switch Review
Grounded taps into the old school 90s shrinking vibe and tells its own story. Previously the game was on the Xbox Series and now its on the Switch. Is it a good game? Does it run well on the Switch? Here is our review of Grounded for the Nintendo Switch.
In Grounded, you choose to play as one of four different kids who have been shrunken down to ant size and end up trying to survive in their backyard. How did they get this way? How do they get out of it? You’ll find out the rest of the story as you try to survive the backyard. The story is pretty neat, giving off a 90s Honey I Shrunk the Kids vibe, but the best part is the gameplay.
The main mode in Grounded is the story/survival mode. In that you’ll try to survive all the hazards of the backyard while also trying to figure out how to get back to normal size. You can also adjust this mode with a custom or creative focus. The game’s character is in first person mode with only seeing third person occasionally. The controls work really well with everything from crafting to fighting working smoothly. Not so smooth is the long load time to get into the game. You might want to get something to eat while waiting. Still, this mode is worth the hassle.
The other modes in the game are Multiplayer and Playground modes. We didn’t get to try out the multiplayer for this because Switch and cross-play only let you play the game with friends. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any friends who were playing Grounded on Switch or on Xbox. So we can’t tell you if Multiplayer is any good. We did get to try out Playground mode though.
Playground mode lets you create your own levels. There’s so much to play around with in this mode, from objects to enemies to place. Its a really cool addition to this game. Also if you are connected to the Xbox via crossplay, you can download other people’s levels. Though there are levels that won’t run well on the Switch and you’ll have to look out for those. Overall, Grounded is a really fun game and it looks great on Switch too.
Grounded has really good graphics on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately it doesn’t always run smoothly. The opening movie lagged a bit when we started and occasionally the game will slow down when you turn fast. There is no noticeable pop-in in the levels though. This is an excellent game.
Despite issues with loading and lag, Grounded on Nintendo Switch is a lot of fun. The story/survival mode is great and Playground is an amazing addition. This is an excellent game and we’re glad it came to the Nintendo Switch.
