Hello Kitty Island Adventure Review
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a simulation/adventure game that recently arrived on the Nintendo Switch. Is this something that fans of Animal Crossing New Horizons will enjoy? Is it a good game? Here’s our review of Hello Kitty Island Adventure for the Nintendo Switch.
At the start of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’ll find yourself on an airplane headed for an island. When the plane starts acting up, you’ll have to leave quickly and then find yourself at your new home. On the island you’ll meet new friends and also become involved in a storyline with a mysterious character named TopHat. And after that quest, there will be other stories to take part in to go along with the simulation gameplay.
The stories in this game are very cute and fun. Best of all? The dialogue is well written. Hello Kitty is a charming game right from the start. It’s the gameplay though, especially the single player, that’ll keep you coming back.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a simulation/adventure game. You’ll create your own character, eventually get a home to decorate and be able to buy clothes and craft items. Theres also a lot of exploration to do! The game takes place on a huge island where you’ll discover new characters, quests, treasure chests, and tons of secrets.
Your fellow residents will also have a ton of quests for you. Some of them, yes, will feel like fetch quests but many others will send you on a big adventure or a small mini story. There’s a lot to do in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. You’ll want to play the game a ton. This is a very addictive game. Our advice is to go slow with it and play the game a little bit every day like you would with an Animal Crossing game.
Speaking of Animal Crossing, Hello Kitty does some things better than that game. The diving is so much better, with you going underwater and exploring. You also don’t have to worry about money in this game and will trade crafting material for items you want to buy. The furniture and clothes in Hello Kitty Island are better than New Horizons too.
Is Hello Kitty better than Animal Crossing? No, but it does come very close. Unfortunately, the game’s multiplayer is one of the things that holds it back.
In online multiplayer for Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you can only play with two players. There’s also no texting in this game and so if you want to communicate with your friend, you’ll have to use another device to do so. That’s pretty disappointing. There are some things to do in multiplayer, like the Friendship quests, but overall, the multiplayer is one of the weakest parts of the game.
Hopefully a future update will expand the multiplayer and make it better. Right now, the single player is the best way to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure and it’s a lot of fun. The game also looks really cute.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure may be cuter than Animal Crossing. The game is so beautiful and colorful. Are the graphics better than New Horizons overall? No, that game has more polish than Hello Kitty, with more shadows and item/landscape animations. And there are framerate issues that noticeably slowdown Hello Kitty often and some occasional item pop-in.
The cuteness and the gameplay keep the slowdown/pop-in from being annoying and you get use to it. Hopefully a future update will improve the framerate.
Meanwhile, the music in Hello Kitty is very good. You can even get a stereo for your house to listen to it!
While Hello Kitty Island Adventure isn’t perfect, everything that is included with the game makes it a wonderful experience that fans of the sim genre will love.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a very addictive game, with lots of stuff to do. Is it perfect? No, the multiplayer is lacking key features like texting and being able to play with more people. The framerate slowdown and pop-in isn’t great but after some time you don’t even notice any pop-in and you do get use to the slowdown. Even with those flaws, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is an excellent addition to the Nintendo Switch.
If you love simulation games, like Animal Crossing New Horizons, then you’ll absolutely want to own Hello Kitty Island Adventure. We’ll be playing this one for a long time. Stay tuned to the site because we’ll likely cover any major updates the game gets. We love this game!
