More Thoughts From Me #50: We’ll See These Games Announced in 2017 (I hope)

Welcome to the New Year! I’ll have a bunch of More Thoughts From Me this year…starting with this one. This time I want to talk about the games I hope get announced this year. Some of the following is based on rumors I’ve heard and others are based on what I’d like to see! What will 2017 bring us? These are my hopes…

We know of a lot of games already for 2017, especially for the 3DS. There are lot of question marks for the Nintendo Switch this year though. So, of course, most of this list deals with games I want to see on Nintendo Switch, but I do have suggestions for the 3DS and for the Wii U. Maybe I should give up on Wii U; I’m not ready yet. Here’s my list what I want to see announced this year and hopefully some of them might even come out this year (also check out this More Thoughts for more games I’d like to see on Switch):

Kirby For the Switch: You can never have enough Kirby games. I’d like to see a Switch Kirby return to the classic, “Kirby eats everything in sight” games! I’m very sure that Kirby will look great on the Switch no matter what they do with the game though.

Lego Dimensions: As you all know, I just got Lego Dimensions for Christmas. I’m hoping that even more cool character and level packs will be released for the game this year. Lego fan and artist Lewis Blythe on twitter suggested a Looney Tunes level pack! I’d love to see that. I’d also like to see Marvel and Disney make its way to Lego Dimensions. Now that Disney Infinity is no more, hopefully the Lego people can convince Disney to bring their franchises to Lego Dimensions! Imagine teaming up Batman and Spider-man or Gandalf and Mickey! Also, can we get Star Trek and Star Wars added to Lego Dimensions?! How awesome would it be to mix those universes! Finally, here’s hoping Lego Dimensions makes its way to the Nintendo Switch for those who want to buy it there.

Lego Guardians of the Galaxy Game: Yes, I know there is going to be a Telltale Guardians game, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a Lego one too. The new movie is coming out this year! At the very least, it would be cool to see the Guardians get a Lego Dimensions level pack.

Animal Crossing Wii U: I know many think we’ll never see an Animal Crossing for Wii U. Of course, we just got that Animal Crossing amiibo update for the 3DS. Here’s what I purpose: bring New Leaf to the Wii U in HD. I would buy that game again in HD, especially with the amiibo bells and whistles. And, if you have to, bring it to the Nintendo Switch too. But I definitly do want to see a brand new Animal Crossing for the Switch eventually. I just don’t think we’ll see one anytime soon. New Leaf HD would be a great short term solution.

More Indies For Wii U: I know Nintendo is backing off of making Wii U games a bit (though I do hope they have one or two more for the system). And some Indies are pulling away from the system too. I hope that indies like YIIK and Soul Saga still make it to Wii U. Also hoping that we’ll see a few more indie games for Wii U this year too.

New Metroid for the Switch: I hope we’ll see a new Metroid game for the Switch. Do I think it’ll be from Retro? Nope. I think they are working on something different. But here’s hoping we see soemthing Metroid announced at E3 this year.

Even more 3DS games: We are going to see a lot of 3DS games this year but I hope even more are shown off at E3. I’d love to see Square Enix finally bring another Final Fantasy Tactics out. It would be nice to see Lego bring a cool game to the 3DS too. I’d also like to see Monster Hunter Stories finally make it over here with its amiibo figures. I’m not a Monster Hunter fan, but this game looks really cool. Its a turn-based rpg! That rules. As for Nintendo, I hope that collection of Box Boy games makes its way to the U.S. with its amiibo, that Miitopia sees a western release because I loved Tomodachi and a Mii rpg sounds awesome, and that there are a few more 3DS surprises in store for us. Hey, I would be more than ok with another Animal Crossing spinoff!

Mother 3 for Switch: There’s a rumor that Mother 3, which never to the US, will be coming this year to the Switch Virtual Console. Never have I wanted a rumor to be 100% true more than this one! Also, while we’re dreaming, can we have a brand new Earthbound for the Switch too?

Gamecube Virtual Console titles: There is a rumor that the Nintendo Switch will be getting Gamecube VC titles. PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE. Animal Crossing Cube is rumored as being tested. PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE TOO. I’d love to see the Gamecube games on another console finally. SO many great games there. (please let Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes be an early one! Love that game)

Star Wars on the Switch: EA sounds like they’ll bring games to the Switch. I’d love to see Star Wars games on the system. Battlefront? I guess. But a new, exclusive Star Wars game would be amazing. Probably won’t happen I know, but come on, we are dreaming here. I’m just hoping Star Wars will show up somehow.

Here’s hoping 2017 is a great year of games! What are your dream games for 2017??
