FIFA 22 Comes with Balanced, Slower Play

FIFA 21 has been characterized by many as a goal fest, where trick mastery meant filling the net, and solid positional play meant...well, sometimes never being rewarded for playing soccer the way it's done in the pros. But with a few gameplay updates to FIFA 22, goal fest is over, and a more balanced experience is shinning through, one that emphasizes positional play and crisp, accurate passing, as opposed to flipping balls over people's heads, nutmegging them, and more.

One Year On: Bethesda and Microsoft

It’s probably one of the biggest announcements the gaming industry has ever seen. Microsoft had bought Bethesda, and the full impact of that announcement still hasn’t been felt. One of the biggest PlayStation exclusives of the year is a Microsoft game. That’s pretty funny. Starfield will be exclusive when it’s finally available, and that’s pretty cool too. But as of today the immediate effects have not been felt. With one major exception: we know Xbox is coming to play. Bethesda…

Tales of Arise Review (Xbox)

I've always enjoyed the Tales franchise, with Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Vesperia being two of my favourites in the series. Tales of Arise has quietly slotted itself in between those two games in my top 3 favourite Tales titles of all time! Tales of Arise takes a bit more modern of an approach to the franchise, which was a welcomed edition. But it is the characters and story that shines brightest here.

WRC 10 Review (Xbox)

There’s little more thrilling in a rally game than coming up the crest of a hill near the end of a stage, knowing that you’ve got to hit the last few turns perfectly in order to win the event. At their best, rally games give the player the white-knuckled thrill of driving fast through unfamiliar terrain, trying to get the best time.

FIFA 22 Tutorial is Outstanding

When a tutorial is required, either for new players or because a new concept has been introduce into a game, so often companies use the most boring way to show off the new mechanic, or teach the controls. EA Sports has tried to do away with that type of crap, and instead have created a fantastic short story experience that walks players through the basics of running, passing, shooting and more, all set on the streets of Paris, and in the famous stadium of PSG!

Xbox Acquisition Rumours Return (….again)

It’s been five minutes so, of course, it’s time to start talking about who Microsoft are going to be buying this week. Acquisition season never ends. Despite the fact there’s been a bevy of buzz since the Bethesda purchase last year, Microsoft have stayed tight-lipped about who they’re going to buy next. We know it’s a matter of when, not if. Execs at the company have said as much. But the when bit is just the question. Insiders have spent…

Farming Simulator 22 Supports Cross Play

I still can remember when the Farming Simulator franchise was a single player experience through and through. Fun still, yes of course, but owning a farming empire is always more fun with friends, especially since it allows you to expand at an exponential rate. So many people playing farming simulator solo miss out on so much of what the game has to offer just because of time! Then Farming Simulator got multiplayer, and this year, we are getting crossplay as well! Let's take a peak!

Covid is still biting – and game delays are the result

With Horizon pushed back and Dying Light quickly following it, we’re obviously still seeing covid rearing its ugly head. And with hints that more delays are on the way, it could be a difficult few months for gamers everywhere. The reality is that working practices have been torn apart over the last 18 months, and the result is that Christmas is going to be pretty barebones for most. If you’re not into Halo or Forza, you better get into them…

Grand Theft Auto V – Still Crazy After All These Years

Grand Theft Auto V is about to turn eight. Rather strangely, it’s also about to be released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This is a game that recently courted tens of thousands of dislikes on a YouTube tutorial, but will sell a billion copies anyway. This is a game that’s massively loved, which everybody has played and which still manages to place in sales charts every single week. It doesn’t make any sense. But has Rockstar finally…
