Finally! GTAV is mere hours away from releasing worldwide. Are you excited? Are you one of the lucky few who got it early? Needless to say, it's my most anticipated game since.. well since GTAIV I suppose. Still though, let's not forget all those other releases this week too. Hot Wheels, PES 2014 and Zelda HD are just some of the games brave enough to release this week.

New Releases this week | Sept 9th – Sept 15th 2013
As the Rockstar behemoth that is GTAV casts its massive shadow over the horizon, new releases cower in fear and stay indoors waiting for the dust to settle before venturing outside. Or at least that's the impression I get from this week's meager list of upcoming titles.

The Wii U is now available to purchase from Waitrose for £150 for the basic pack and £199 for the premium pack. This puts the basic pack at a slightly cheaper price point than the 3DS XL. Other supermarkets, as well as some electronics stores, may be poised to follow suit.

There's a lot of mixed voices about Disney's Planes, the spin-off from Pixar's 2006 hit Cars. Whether disappointed with the quality of the actual film itself (Planes currently "boasts" a 39 on Metacritic, with a user score lower than that) or if you've got wrapped up in some of the other minor controversies that have come out over the past few months, it's unlikely you're in a rush to go out and by merchandise or games based on the IP.

Bit of an average week for releases. The featured game this week is none other than Diablo III. Will console gamers welcome it with open arms or will it be largely ignored? Only time will tell. Other releases this week includes Mickey Mouse making a comeback, a couple rhythm games, a farmer's dream game and a return to Helghan.

Like everyone, I looked at Disney Infinity when it was announced and saw only a money grabbing rip-off of Activision's popular Skylanders series. ANOTHER game where I have to buy overpriced toys to unlock some on-disc DLC? Ridiculous.

The Wonderful 101 is what happens when you take Nintendo's charm and core-appeal and stuff it into a Saturday morning cartoon format. This is a world where heroes scream the name of their power before using it, in which every ability is mercilessly explained in detail, in which you're the hero and in which you'll die. A lot.

A great week for releases with something for everyone. The featured game for this week is none other than Final Fantasy XIV Online. Will the MMO impress or will we be choking the Chocobo this time next week in a fit of rage? Only time will tell.
Read MoreMarvel Avengers Battle for Earth Review
Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth was a Kinect game originally, and was ported to the Wii U along with an alternative control scheme in the hopes of entertaining a new market. It's actually a really difficult game to review, because although what's there is, by and large, pretty decent stuff, it amazes me that there's enough content here to even fill the blurb on the back of the box.

When the Wii U was released, it brought with it a handful of ports and "enhanced" editions, partly because they were awesome games and partly because Nintendo wanted to prove that the Wii U was just as capable of playing "grown up" games as any of the other consoles. That they didn't need to worry about proving themselves in that way, and that many of the quickly-rushed ports actually seemed to prove the opposite probably didn't come into it.
