Best and Worst of Nintendo – My Favourite Games in 2021

I played a ton of Nintendo Switch in 2021 due to me getting my YouTube channel off the ground, but I think some of my favourite games of the year might surprise you. You won't find Metroid Dread on this years list, nor will you find New Pokemon Snap. You will, however, find things like...Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2?! Let's take a look!

More Thoughts From Me #288: It Was A Pokémon Christmas

Yes, Christmas is over! Wow. That went fast. And one of the things I got for Christmas was Pokémon Sword and its DLC! I haven’t checked the DLC out yet, I’m waiting till I’ve played through the full game, but I have played some Pokémon Sword. What do I think of it so far? Let’s talk about it. I got Pokémon Sword (plus the DLC) for Christmas. As anyone who has read this column or anything else I’ve written knows,…

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond Is One of the Best Switch Games of 2021

Before Pokémon Brilliant Diamond came out, I wrote about the best Nintendo Switch games of 2021. I noted at the time that I hadn’t played the game and didn’t know where it fell on the list. Then I reviewed it and now I can say it: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is one of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2021! Pokémon Brilliant Diamond belongs on my list of Best Switch games of 2021. In fact, one of the games of that…

TRIANGLE STRATEGY – Character & Story Trailer #1: Roland Glenbrook

Triangle Strategy, Square Enix’s upcoming HD-2D strategy rpg, is coming out in March for the Nintendo Switch. Check out the latest trailer for Triangle Strategy and some thoughts from us below! Triangle Strategy will be coming out on March 4, 2022. Square Enix’s latest game continues the HD-2D style that Octopath Traveler introduced. Instead of an old school rpg though, Triangle Strategy is a tactical strategy game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre.  The newest trailer…

What’s In an Engine?

Gamers don’t have to worry about what engine their favourite games run on. Not usually. Not like a few years ago. The engine is like sound or editing – if it’s doing its job, you don’t even really notice it exists. And yet engines are right at the forefront of conversation again thanks to the Matrix interactive trailer released last week. It was mind-bending. I don’t want to take anything away from it, because I still can’t quite get my…

Pokémon Needs to get Back to Its Roots

Pokémon used to be pretty simple. Go from place to place, catch wild animals in tiny balls, fight gym leaders, complete the Pokédex and, I presume, get laid. No other reward would be worth it. There was a complexity behind how simple it was. Hardcore fans could compare statistics while the rest of us refused to level up our Pikachu with a thunder stone. There were no massive storylines, no systems on top of systems on top of systems, and…

Pokémon Legends Arceus – December Update Trailer

Pokémon Legends Arcedus will be on the Nintendo Switch next month. Check out the latest update trailer for the game along with some thoughts on it. The latest Pokémon Legends Arcedus trailer shows off the two clans-Diamond and Pearl, along with some item buying. As someone who got into Pokémon thanks to Brilliant Diamond on the Switch, I think its pretty neat that the clans are named after the latest games. Very nice callback! Oh and I gotta say it:…

Figment 2: Creed Valley Demo Thoughts

Yesterday’s Indie World Showcase showed off some interesting games and a few things announced were released on the eshop. One of the things released was a demo of Figment 2: Creed Valley. I checked it out and here are my thoughts. Figment 2: Creed Valley is an action-adventure game that takes place inside of a mind. The official description of the game is: “Figment 2: Creed Valley is an action-adventure game set in the human mind. Nightmares are spreading chaos…

When it comes to Presentations, Nintendo Does It Best

Nintendo might lack the flash of other companies when it comes to how they deliver gaming news to their fans, but they do it the best regardless. Sure, there is no hype from a crowd, a big, shinny stage with lights blazing, or celebrity guests and musical artists to get things rocking. Instead, it's just, "Welcome to today's Nintendo Direct / Indie World Showcase / Mini Direct" and we are off to the races.
