EASports FIFA and Canada’s Rise in Soccer (Football) Rankings
A few years ago, when EA Sports added the women's national teams to FIFA, I often enjoyed trotting out Team Canada and going to work. As one of the better clubs in the world, it was fun to not only cheer for them in real life, but to play with them as well in FIFA. On the men's side...it's never been that way. I've always cheered for the Netherlands when the EURO Cup or World Cup come around, and always played as the Netherlands in FIFA. When FIFA 23 launches this fall with a FIFA World Cup mode, I can finally play as....Canada?
Read MoreHorizon Forbidden West: What’s In a Review Score?
Horizon Forbidden West has come and gone, and it’s apparently unplayable. It has only an 88 on Metacritic. Call Sony, tell them to shut it all down. Nope, not just PlayStation. Shut it ALL down. Don’t take my word for it either. Go take a look on Twitter, or on the regular gaming forums. People are up in arms because – horrors of horrors – Forbidden West didn’t score above a 90. It didn’t score above Forza Horizon. It BARELY…

Video game website IGN had what they call IGN Fest today. During IGN Fest, they showed off footage of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and had the developers talk about the game. You can check that video out below, along with my thoughts on the game! Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is coming out on April 5th, 2022. Read MoreEvery Developer Wants To Be Bought
The unexpected consequences of Microsoft’s near-$70b purchase of Activision is suddenly every developer wants to be bought. Nearly every studio and publisher, when asked, have answered positively about the possibility. So Ubisoft, for instance, today said they would consider offers. Which is a great answer, by the way. Makes it sound like the second the bidder walks out the room the party poppers will come out. Look, video games are hard. They’re expensive and developers don’t make much money on…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) Shredder’s Revenge is coming to the Nintendo Switch and other places this year. There is no solid release date for it but we keep getting teased. Here’s the newest trailer which shows off…Master Splinter! Yes he’s a playable character! TMNT Shredder’s Revenge looks amazing. I am so very hyped for this game. So far: you can play as all of the Turtles, April O’Neil, and Master Splinter. Its very likely that other characters will be…
Read MoreGTA Trilogy Proves Brand is Bigger than Quality
The GTA Trilogy has sold about 10m copies. That’s about 10m more than you might have expected if you visited the internet around launch time. Rockstar announced the total alongside some other eye-watering statistics. Grant Theft Auto V has sold 160m copies. Red Dead Redemption 2 disappoints at only 43m. I’m kidding, the fact it sold so well is one of the happier stories of the last few days. Here’s a less happy one. The Resident Evil 3 remake shipped…
Read MoreSony’s Bungie Buyout Is Smarter Than It Looks
Sony paid more than $3b for Halo creators Bungie, which on the face of it doesn’t entirely add up. They don’t really have much in the way of IP and, besides, part of the deal will see them keep their independence. That includes the independence to publish games on Xbox. The house of PlayStation paid almost half of what Microsoft paid for Zenimax. And yet, on the face of it, they will not be getting half-a-Zenimax worth of content. It’s…

The PS Store leak pegged the console exclusive a day earlier. RockPaperShotgun has accidentally published a preview for Ghostwire Tokyo. Read MoreFamous illustrator Takashi Okazaki creates MLB The Show 22’s Collector’s Edition cover art featuring Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani put together what could be considered one of the greatest single seasons in MLB history. One could say it was superhero like, we sure did. With that in mind and knowing Shohei’s love for manga and anime the decision was clear. A normal Collector’s Edition cover wouldn’t suffice— we needed to take it to the next level. We heard through the grapevine that famed manga artist, director, and writer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai, Batman Ninja) was a huge…
