Last week, Bethesda accidentally teased their fanbase with the unveiling of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One edition of Skyrim. The community went mad, some wondering why it was a necessary addition to new generation machines, others excited to once again explore a now refreshed, graphically improved land. Unfortunately, it isn't going to happen.

Sony Online Entertainment are working on a set of unannounced games, some of which CEO John Smedley claims PS2 players "might just like". With Everquest Next handling the main Everquest line going forward, it might just be that Sony are looking to revive the Champions series.

Survival games don't generally tend to be about survival. They tend to be about avoiding pitfalls and dangerous enemies. That's largely because, let's face it, actual survival - the drinking pee, eating rats, building shelter sort of survival - just isn't fun in a video game. Except it is. Don't Starve proves that, done right, simply making it through a week on your own can be incredibly rewarding, and addictive.

There are similarities between the various controllers on the market, but there are differences as well. Even when the controllers seem to offer comparable things and be relatively the same size, there may be features that just can't be utilized across every platform. That's why Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be optimized for each different input method, Kojima has confirmed.

If you feel like you're in good company, owning a PlayStation 4, you're probably about right. Sony announced earlier this week that some 4.2 million consoles have been sold to consumers, an absolutely staggering amount considering the device has only been available for less than two months. When you think about the price and limited catalogue, it's hard not to see that Sony has done something right.

Looking for something to scare your socks off? Alien: Isolation looks like it might actually be that game, and while we've been disappointed by the IP before, SEGA look to have fixed things completely this time around. Horror? Check. Deadly aliens? Check. Unnecessary character link to previous entries? Check. Hell - it could even be a new entry in the film franchise.

There really aren't enough co-op multiplayer games around, to the point where Left 4 Dead manages to stand out basically unchallenged. They're fantastic games in their own right, especially if you have people to enjoy them with, but ultimately there isn't much competition. That's going to change soon, when Evolve is released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later this year.

There's been a lot of speculation about what Sony will be looking to do with the Cloud, and it seems like they might have been reading an awful lot of what people expect from the service online. It's slightly underwhelming in just how right many of us were about it, but in every other way I'm not sure they could handle it any better. There are a few questions left to be asked - which probably means we won't like the answers - but so far we're impressed.

Ok, so Square Enix are playing this game. Despite the fact that a Game of the Year edition is almost certainly coming to PC, and despite the fact that it would make sense to have the new features of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition in that Game of the Year release, Eidos representatives are still saying that it isn't going to happen.
