Solid Snake returns, although this time he's older, more world-weary. Years of fighting the patriots, of being lied to at every turn have had their toll, and his body's increased ageing have made him grey before his years. None of that matters though: he's about to embark on his hardest mission yet, a mission that will test the limits of his physical and mental strength and that will, hopefully, let the old soldier rest upon completion.

Catherine is an unusual game, to say the least. Whilst the bulk of it plays out either as a movie or as a watered-down RPG, the "main" gameplay is that of a block-pushing puzzle game that charges you with reaching the top of a tower whilst taking on various obstacles and difficulties. Mixed with a mature story and plenty of anime-style side boob, it's hard to really pin down the sort of person that would really love Catherine. It's totally unique, sometimes cheesy and well worth a look.

It's impossible to judge Deadly Premonition on any traditional scale. The graphics are laughable, the gameplay bland and repetitive, the basic mechanics borderline broken and the script filled with (hopefully intentional) cheesy lines. It is, by almost any measure, a terrible game. Except it isn't.

Gran Turismo Creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed today – at an event to celebrate 15 years of the 70-million-selling franchise- that the sixth entry in the series will be released in time for Christmas 2013. Square Enix have today released a fresh batch of screens for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Showing off some beautiful landscapes, you can tell XIV is a Final Fantasy game regardless of its MMO-status. If nothing else comes of A Realm Reborn and it releases to another round of "meh," at least those who enjoyed the original release and are looking to continue supporting Square will have some nice things to look at.

EU PlayStation Plus members may be getting something a little more strategy-based over the coming months, maybe as soon as in the July content update. As an IP that’s spent quite a while out of the limelight, it would make sense to expose as many people to the XCOM franchise as possible before 2K start pushing The Bureau towards its August release date, and releasing Enemy Unknown through the Plus service would be a great way to accomplish that. As usual the Playstation Plus content for June adds 5 free games to the Instant Game Collection. 3 for PS3 and 2 for PS Vita. Complaints about the lack of RPG games in the IGC seems to have gotten through to the people that matter and this month 2 RPGs are given for free to subscribers of the excellent service. Even though this is the June update much of the additions will get added on May 29th.
