Monster Hunter Rise Demo Thoughts

Last night, a demo for Monster Hunter Rise for the Nintendo Switch came out. I have some thoughts on it. Full disclosure: I’ve never been much of a Monster Hunter fan. I’ve tried previous demos for the series and never could get into the games. I wanted to like them but they just didn’t connect with me. So why did I try the Monster Hunter Rise demo? As always I was curious. Would this be the Monster Hunter that I…

Calico Update Impressions

One of my last 2020 Nintendo Switch reviews was an indie game called Calico. I liked it a lot but there were some issues that kept it back from being a great game. It was still a good one. And now an update has been released for the game. Here are my first impressions of whats changed. In my review of Calico I said, “Also not being able to share screenshots of this game online seems like a huge mistake!”…

Its a New Year! And we have no idea what Nintendo has in store for us past February. They just haven’t announced much for this year. That doesn’t mean that Nintendo has nothing. Other games…

Animal Crossing: New Horizons New Year’s Resolutions! (Video)

Happy New Year! Nintendo is ringing in the new year with an Animal Crossing video showing off some of the animals New Year’s Resolutions. Its a pretty cute video. Give it a look. I’ll wait right here. I have some thoughts on Animal Crossing New Horizons for the new year! Animal Crossing New Horizons was, without a doubt, the biggest game that Nintendo released last year. It was a huge hit and will continue to be so this year (and…

New Years is the Time For Gaming Nostalgia – So Why Is It So Hard to Enjoy?

It’s around this time each year that I start to think back on Christmases past, and how wonderful it’d be to start pulling out old consoles again. The excitement of December 25 has gone, but the holiday spirit remains, and the Dreamcast or N64 is calling to me from the closet. Inevitably, I play a few games for 20 minutes, die repeatedly because of the crazy camera and then go back to some hand-holding modern title for comfort. You know…

More Thoughts From Me #252: Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! This time I share my thoughts about this year in video games and just how lucky video game fans were compared to, oh say movie fans or tv show fans. Time to reflect and hug your video games or you know, thank a video game developer. Well, we made it to the holidays. Its been a bad year. I think most of us can agree that 2020 sucked and we never want to see it again.…
