Mario and Luigi Paper Jam Blends Nicely

Paper Mario games are great, although have been trending downwards since the release of The Thousand Year Door on the GameCube. The last release, Sticker Star, was lackluster to say the least, borrowing heavily from the 2D Super Mario games heavily by removing the 'open world' and replacing it with Worlds and Levels, i.e. World 1-Level 1. On the other hand, Mario and Luigi games have always been strong titles, and even Dream Team - despite its various faults and pacing issues - was still an excellent release. I have to assume that Paper Mario fans were ...

More Thoughts From Me #1: An Introduction

I know you have questions. You’re probably thinking: there were other thoughts from you? And, wait, just who the heck are you? My name is Daniel Fugate. I’m a writer, reviewer, and blogger. As a blogger, I’ve written my More Thoughts From Me column for awhile now. Never heard of it? I’m not surprised! My readership at that blog is…pretty low… But, you know, its nice to have a reader that believes in you. Games Review’s Adam Roffel said he…

Mario and Luigi Paper Jam Set to Release in NA

Mario and Luigi titles have been one of my favorite Mario franchises. My other favorite franchise? Paper Mario. In my personal opinion, the last release for each - Mario and Luigi: Dream Team and Paper Mario: Sticker Star where somewhat of a let down. Dream Team was good, yes, but Sticker Star was pretty bad. Frankly, I had little hope for Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam. However, after playing it a few times at various Nintendo events, and watching a few Let's Plays on YouTube - the game has been out in Japan and Europe since December - I'm really excited for ...

Peanuts: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure

Very few games now a days are really kid and adult friendly at the same time. What I mean by that is, the game is easy enough for kids to play alone, and entertaining enough for adults to participate - or play alone themselves! Peanuts: Snoopy's Grand Adventure is the PERFECT example of this. Before someone points out that Nintendo has many games that fit this build, I say yes...but no. My four year old nephew can EASILY play Snoopy's Grand Adventure, with a little bit of help from myself. My six year old son? He's beaten the game already on Xbox One, and ...

SteamWorld Heist Review

If you ever played SteamWorld Dig, you know that developer Image and Form is not messing around. They take time to make their games, but they are damn fun! I have owned - and played - SteamWorld Dig on multiple platforms, and plan to do the same with SteamWorld Heist if it is as good as the previous title. I had my reservations, especially since I am not a big fan of turn based titles. All I can say is...wow. SteamWorld Heist is one of the best indie games I have played this year, and by far the best indie title I've played on a Nintendo platform.

Nintendo’s Latest Free-to-Start/Play Titles a Big Hit

I'm always skeptical of Free-to-Start and Free-to-Play games, and I should be. Some games really suck you in - Simpson's Tapped Out for myself - and make you really want to spend money. And at times, it is easy to justify a few dollars especially if you are very committed. Nintendo has done an excellent job lately with their free-to-play model, and I hope it continues. For the hardcore fans, I can see the value in spending money, but for those looking for a casual experience, it is a perfect reason to keep whipping that 3DS out day after day.

Nintendo the ideal Holiday Gift?

People have actively criticized Nintendo ever since the Wii U came out a number of years ago, but the reality is that the Wii U and 3DS still might be the ideal family Video Game gift this holiday season. The reason for this? Local multiplayer, something not easily available on the Xbox One or the PS4. Even though the rumored Nintendo NX will be available next year, there are some great deals right now on the Wii U, and we should assume current game purchases will work on the new console in some way.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon Review

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon will not be a game that every 3DS or Pokemon fan will like, but that doesn't mean it does not have some redeeming qualities. Individuals who have been turned off by previous Mystery Dungeon titles will not be won over with this latest installment. The core game play mechanics have not been overhauled much from previous titles, but the inclusion of 20 Pokemon to select as a starter, and the ability to interact with all 720 Pokemon - including legionaries - should make fans of the franchise ready to tackle and more mystery dungeons.
