They started it and now they're ending it. First introduced in 2010 and originally intended to be exclusively for EA games, the online pass has grown into a quick and easy way for developers to make money from used titles. In an attempt to capitalize on the used market, EA introduced the online pass which forced players to pay up if they wished to have access to the online features of a game they'd bought second hand. Some weren't too happy with this new feature, particularly those strapped for cash and unable to buy a game brand new at full price.

Gran Turismo 6 confirmed for 2013 release
Gran Turismo Creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed today – at an event to celebrate 15 years of the 70-million-selling franchise- that the sixth entry in the series will be released in time for Christmas 2013. Square Enix have today released a fresh batch of screens for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Showing off some beautiful landscapes, you can tell XIV is a Final Fantasy game regardless of its MMO-status. If nothing else comes of A Realm Reborn and it releases to another round of "meh," at least those who enjoyed the original release and are looking to continue supporting Square will have some nice things to look at.

As usual the Playstation Plus content for June adds 5 free games to the Instant Game Collection. 3 for PS3 and 2 for PS Vita. Complaints about the lack of RPG games in the IGC seems to have gotten through to the people that matter and this month 2 RPGs are given for free to subscribers of the excellent service.
