I love the idea of amiibo cards. It could be seen as a trading card game, but with characters from popular Nintendo franchises that serve a purpose in the games they represent. Nintendo has done a great job with the amiibo cards for Animal Crossing, and according to Nintendo, they will be rolling out new amiibo cards in 2017...for Mario.
