I've long been a fan of Stonemaier games, and so have many of my friends and family members. So often I'll ask other board game aficionados which developer and publisher they like the most, and consistently the folks at Stonemaier are at the top, or at least near the top, of that list. So it made me wonder - why is Stonemaier so successful. I chalk it up to a few key points, all of which have created one of the best board game teams of the last decade.

Asmodee is known the world over for all the board and card game it publishes, and I'm constantly astonished at the range of games the company has in it's portfolio. Over the holidays, we reviewed many of these titles, and are continuing trough a few other now. Last night, it was all about the kid friendly game, Spot It! where players do their best to find the matching symbols between cards, collecting the cards and ultimately winning the game.

Tapestry was one of my favourite games to play in 2020, thanks to it's deep civilization building mechanics and outstanding game pieces. None of this should come as a shock, however, as Stonemaeir games is easily one of my favourite developers and publishers, and they almost always knock it out of the park. Recently, the company released the first major expansion for Tapestry titled, Plans and Ploys, and we are about to tell you what we think! Let's dive in!

Stonemaier games has quickly become one of my favourite board game publishing companies because of a few key factors. First, their titles are generally really, really good. They scale well for the minimum to maximum players, the components included are fantastic, and the strategy is easy to understand, but incredibly deep. When the opportunity to review Pendulum came up, I couldn't wait for yet another amazing Stonemaier experience, and for the most part, I wasn't disappointed.

Another night, another family board game. Thanks to our friends at Asmodee Canada we have been working through a variety of social board games great for the whole family, and last night we did a deep dive on Wavelength, a game of guessing. If you are looking for a fun party game for your immediate family during this pandemic rittled holiday season, Wavelength will provides hours upon hours of entertainment.

My wife and I are always clamoring for 2 player games, and while there are a ton of them out there, few really grasp us past a few play throughs. Thanks to our friends at Asmodee Canada, Patchwork was one of the games that came in an epically large box of board games for us to try out and talk to you about. Wingspan was one of our favourite games in 2020, and for good reason - it's incredibly addictive, can be played again and again without seeing the same birds and elements in play, and is easy to teach to new players. In Wingspan, players will add birds to their habitats in an attempt to score points. The most points after 4 rounds is the winner. But does Wingspan provide enough strategy with their bird mechanics to make this game fun, and more importantly, re-playable? Let's take look.
