Good Components Key to Board Game Success

Good components are a big part of having a great gaming experience. Fantasy Flight Games is one of the best in creating good components for massive miniatures board games, even if many of those components are made of cardboard. During my time with Journey’s in Middle Earth and Star Wars: Imperial Assault, I’ve realized that Fantasy Flight might be the best component maker in the business, and on a grand scale. Cardboard Tiles Both Journey’s in Middle Earth and Imperial…

First Hours in Imperial Assault are Promising

Recently, Fantasy Flight Games sent over Star Wars: Imperial Assault, one of their older miniatures board games centred in the Star Wars universe. Included in that package from Fantasy Flight was a copy of two of the many expansions: Return to Hoth and Jabba’s Realm. Over the weekend, I began my first long deep dive into the game, playing for about 5 hours in total. After just a few hours, can I recommend it? The best and worst part about…

To be honest, miniatures games have always intrigued me, but I’ve never pulled the trigger because of the cost.…

Agricola 15th Anniversary Big Box – Tale of Two Boxes

One of the very first ‘real’ board games I ever played (and purchased) after Catan was Agricola. I was mesmerized by the pieces, the cards, the boards, and more. It looked like a really great game, and as someone infatuated with farming video games, I thought a farming board game would be a lot of fun. Recently, Asmodee and Lookout Games launched a 15th Anniversary edition of the game in a big box - does it hit like it should? Let’s take a look.

Journey’s In Middle Earth Bones of Arnor Impressions

Over the past few weeks, my father-in-law and I have been sitting down over lunch breaks to play Lord of the Rings: Journey’s in Middle Earth. Although I purchased all of the available content for the game, we began with the starter scenario, Bones of Arnor. I call it a starter scenario, but it’s not really. It’s a great scenario that, even on it’s own, stands up as one of the best cooperative experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Over the past few weeks, we have been playing the outstanding kids game, The Quest Kids . This game is aimed at kids, but is fun for adults to play as well. We’ve played nearly half a dozen games of it so far, and I decided it would be unique to interview my son about the game, and see what he had to say. None of his thoughts are edited, these are purely his opinions! Let’s get into it!
