Explorers Board Game Review

Simple roll-and-write games, flip-and-write games, etc. are a dime a dozen it seems. Some are really good, others are really bad, and most hover in that middle category of just being OK. The popularity of these games is due to how inexpensive they are to produce, and therefore, purchase. When we got our hands on Explorers, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. After playing it multiple times over the past few weeks, I'm glad it is in my collection.

Viticulture World – Is Growing Grapes and Making Wine Better with Friends?

Viticulture is easily one of the best games available. Not the best in its genre, not even the best from Stonemaier. One of the best period, and there is a reason for it. The game is so smooth, is easy to understand, and can be tackled in a bunch of different ways, with each person who chooses a different path to victory having an equal shot at winning. This is not a one-way-to-win experience, but rather one that requires some…

Sobek Board Game Preview

I’ve really enjoyed games produced by Pandasaurus Games, so when the opportunity came to check out their latest, a 2-Player re-launch of Sobek, I couldn’t wait to dive in. The backstory for the game is pretty straightforward, “Sobek awaits the creation of a grand temple in his honor to be built in Faiyum. To support the construction, a huge market has emerged, bustling with rich goods. You and your opponent will vie to take advantage of this opportunity. Sobek will…

Box Monster is Mysterious Fun for Kids

Finding games that I actually want to play with my kids can be pretty hard as most games geared towards younger ages are pretty boring, lackluster, or I’ve played them way to much. Every once in a while a new game will come around that offers a lot of promise, and generally delivers a fun experience for all involved. While Box Monster didn’t quite hit that high for me, it is still an excellent game my kids have enjoyed over…

Citadels Board Game Review

Board game remakes and reprints are on the rise, and Citadels is one of those titles that has received a glossy coat of paint, included all previous expansions, and has been relaunched for public consumption. As someone who owned the original in that tiny box, it's nice to have a complete set of the game to enjoy, and I think it's a worthwhile upgrade to make.
