Most parents have probably finished up all their Christmas shopping with only a couple days to spare, but there are still a number of quick gifts parents can get their kids on the Nintendo Switch. We've been plowing through a few of 2017's latest releases, and while we won't have full reviews on them for a while, want you to be aware of them none-the-less. Right now, lets take a look at Ben 10 and Party Planet!

I've been a long-time fan of ARK: Survival Evolved, and when Xbox released users statistics for 2017, it was no surprise to me that ARK was my most played game this year. The big draw to me for ARK is the gameplay, being able to jump into a game with friends, building crazy structures, taming a legion of dinosaurs, and exploring a huge open world is more important to me than graphical superiority. Far Cry 5 is Ubisoft's next highly anticipated title in the Far Cry series, and this time around, the developers are tagging America as its playground for some crazy, over the top mayhem. The early looks and videos of Far Cry have been spectacular, detailing a bit of the back story - a religious cult attempting to take over America - as well as some of the gameplay, which surprisingly includes fishing. Today, Ubisoft released yet another trailer for the game title, "The Resistance."

I’ve said again and again in my reviews of platformers that these types games usually don’t have good stories. In general, the writing in platformers is anywhere from “well, its a fun game” to “cringe, cringe, cringe”. There are exceptions to that rule though, such as Ratchet & Clank and Super Paper Mario. Having Pokémon games on the eShop has been great, and allowed me to go back and revisit some of my favorite titles in the series. Like the Mario Bros games, Pokémon titles seem to be the games you tend to buy over and over again if you are a huge fan; with the launch of Pokémon Crystal on the Nintendo eShop this January, I'll be able to add an other Pokémon classic to my collection of Pokémon games.
