More Thoughts From Me #105: The Importance of Demos

Recently, I read a tweet by SMG Studio, the developer of Death Squared, about their demo on the Nintendo Switch eShop for the game. They talked about the demo but also asked for feedback on it and the possibility of demos from other indie developers. They said that indies wanted to know if people wanted more demos on the eShop. Right away, I knew I wanted to talk about this. I believe that demos are very important. Square Enix recently…

Sea of Thieves: Fun, But for How Long?

Ever since RARE launched the Sea of Thieves Alpha a number of months ago, I have been jumping into the game and trying it out during each alpha session. It has been really fun watching the game evolve in front of my eyes, and concepts, themes, and execution of the pirate idea is very well done. With the official Beta launch - and more people sailing the seven seas - it was time to begin judging Sea of Thieves in a more critical light. How does this hold up? How much fun is it really? What is there to do without leveling and upgrading? The beta has handled a ...

Heading West: A Look At World to the West for Nintendo Switch

I really liked Teslagrad on the Wii U. The graphics were very good and the gameplay was a lot of fun. The developer of that game, Rain Games, has a new game out now for the Nintendo Switch: World to the West. The game is set in the same universe as Teslagrad, however the gameplay and graphics are very different. I received a review copy of World to the West recently. My review isn’t ready yet but I thought I…

More Thoughts From Me #104: SNES Classic Hands-on Impressions

I tried and failed to get an NES Classic. Then the SNES Classic came out and I failed to get that too. I thought I’d never get either one of them. And then early last week, Amazon had a Lightning deal on the SNES Classic. I managed to finally buy an SNES Classic! Now that I’ve played with the system some, is the SNES Classic worth all this trouble? How are the games on the system? How do they play?…

More Thoughts From Me #103: The State of the Nintendo Direct

So…we had a Nintendo Direct last week. It was Nintendo Direct Mini to be exact. During that Direct, we got some new announcements. A lot of people that I follow seemed to like the Direct. I heard there were people who didn’t like it, but I never saw those comments. Well, ok, I did see those comments from one person: myself. I didn’t care for the Direct. I stated why in this article. However, I want to talk about that…
