Big Boss Unboxing and Components Review
Big Boss is a classic strategy board game that has been translated into English for the first time ever! This game has a very unique concept and caught my interest from the start. Let’s open it up and look at what is included in the box!
Thankfully, there is no punching or prep work required to dive into Big Boss, as all of the components simply need to be removed from their plastic wrap and resealable bags to get going. The plastic pieces are sturdy but of average quality, and it must be noted that there are no organizers in the box except for the shallow, square plastic dividers as seen in the picture above which loosely hold the money tokens.
This makes Big Boss a slightly messy game to store, as everything simply gets tossed back in the box in resealable plastic bags until next time. The money tokens themselves, however, are high-quality punch outs that are pre-punched before packaging, and they came with very few blemishes. The game board does also have an indented groove along its track, making it very easy to properly place your pieces, which is a key part of the game! In fact, most of the game pieces themselves are of good quality and vary in materials from punch board and wooden tokens to premium quality playing cards and sturdy molded plastic pieces.
Once assembled properly setup, there is a logical place for each different game piece that allows for a logical flow of the game. There are even pieces included that are specifically for modified rulesets on how to play Big Boss, which is a nice addition. Instructions are also provided on how to use these tokens with their ‘default’ ruleset for the game, which is how I recommend all newcomers start!
At the end of the day, the overall look and feel of Big Boss is quite good. Those with larger hands may struggle with the card size, but for a family game that you can play with kids (age 10 and up recommended) they are perfect. There is something very satisfying about building your business higher and higher to tower over the competition – a great concept that is visually executed to strong effect!
