Disney Sorcerers Arena Board Game Review

I’m a huge Disney fan – if you were to walk into my house today you would see Disney LEGO sets adorning shelves, Disney Blu Rays in the basement…basically Disney everywhere. Being a sucker for Disney board games, whether good or bad, recently we had the chance to play Disney Sorcerers Arena. I’m always a little sceptical of arena games, but this one does it right, while also being accessible to a wide audience of players. Let’s take a look!…

Google Pixel 8 Review

Over the past few weeks, I have been playing around with the Google Pixel 8, and so far I’ve been really impressed with the device. Although a bit more expensive than last generation Pixel 7, the various updates and upgrades to the device justify the slight price increase. Although I still feel that Google seems to be feeling out where they belong in the mobile phone space, I continue to enjoy what they are bringing to the table. As with…

Ticket to Ride Legacy – Does This Remove Cut-throat Competition?

There are two types of Ticket to Ride players: those who love their friends and want to have a fun game night, and those who are terrible human beings and just want to ruin everyone’s strategy and game. Ok, perhaps it’s not that extreme, but if you have played Ticket to Ride in the past, you know exactly what I’m talking about. There are people who are cut-throat in their approach, and will finish tickets of their own, while sabotaging…

Express Route Review

As I’ve noted many times over the past few weeks, I’ve really been enjoying cooperative board games. I especially like when each player has their own character with special powers as it can reduce that feeling of an alpha gamer at the table. Express Route is a fantastic package delivery game that takes simplistic gameplay elements but adds a deep strategic element of planning. I wasn’t sure how much I would like this one, but after a few games, I’m…

Monster Hunter World and the Lack of Shelf Space

I understand I’m living in a different environment than most hardcore board game players. Before GamesReviews became as popular as it has, and before our board game footage began performing so well, everything we did here on the site was paid for out of pocket. This was the same for my free-time board gaming as well. That meant we would perhaps pick up 3 or 4 expensive ($80 – $100) games per year, plus things on sale and smaller titles.…

Project EOS Rise Review

Over the past few months, I’ve really been enjoying complex and difficult cooperative games, and Project EOS Rise scratches that specific itch very well. This isn’t a game for beginning players as there is a lot going on, but for board game veterans who want a real challenge, I cannot recommend Project EOS Rise enough! In Project EOS Rise, you will be looking (with your crew) for the Paradise Planet, and once you find it you need to reach it…

Marvel Dice Throne Review

If you’ve never played Dice Throne you need to head to your nearest local game store and purchase one of the two packs of characters. It’s such a simplistic idea but there is so much strategy. Dice Throne quickly became one of my favourite games when I received it as a Christmas gift a few years ago, and just recently the publishing team behind the game were nice enough to send over Marvel Dice Throne, a version of Dice Throne…

Five Nights at Freddy’s Fightline Collectible Battle Game Review

Five Nights at Freddy’s has been one of the most popular, family safe “horror” experiences that is, for the most part, OK for most ages. It’s big on jump scares and creepy scenarios, but in a safe and fun way. Funko Games recently released a collectible board game around the franchise, much like they did with Star Wars Rivals . Will a similar collectible concept work for Five Nights at Freddy’s as well? Off the top, I do need to…

Playmobil 1-2-3 Featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse

We’ve enjoyed reviewing a number of Playmobil sets over the past few years, and we hope to continue doing so for the foreseeable future. It’s such a great time opening up the boxes, getting the sets built, and  getting it all setup with our other sets. When Playmobil reached out with the chance to review the Playmobil 1-2-3 sets, some featuring our favourite Disney characters, I jumped at the chance. Reviewing these sets is not about where my kids are…

Small Box Ticket to Ride Games are Phenomenal

My opinion on the small box Ticket to Ride games has been lukewarm for the most part. Although I loved Ticket to Ride Berlin because of the use of both street cars and subway cars, in general I find that I would much rather play a full version of Ticket to Ride. Last week, I headed out on the Disney Dream, one of Disney’s 5 cruise ships, and realized the value of these small boxed Ticket to Ride experiences. They…
