Nintendo RPGS getting Bundles

Although Microsoft is a very (very!) close second, Nintendo is King of creating specific bundles for games coming out on their systems. Whether the bundles are just packed with games, or if the systems actually have unique designs, Nintendo is always trying to create better quality bundles for a good price. Oh ya, and they want the hardcore fans to shell out lots of money and collect all of their favorites.

Interview with Image and Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson

Small studios are often more open to communicating directly with smaller websites and media outlets, and this is very true of all the staff members at Image and Form. Not every companies CEO would take time to answer questions, but the mind behind the SteamWorld franchise (SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Heist), Brjann Sigurgeirsson, did just that for us. Image and Form almost went "off the grid" after the launch of SteamWorld Heist on the 3DS, not because they didn't care, but because they are so very busy. So we had some time to ask Brjann a few questions and he happily obliged. Our full interview is below.

More Thoughts From Me #2: Every Video Game Needs A Story

Every single game needs a story. I’m not saying that every video games has a story as it is obvious that not all of them do. What I’m saying is that every video needs a story and should have it. Let’s take a look at a few examples, shall we? Shooter? Give it a story. Otherwise, its just your typical space shooter. Life sim? Look at Animal Crossing. You move to a small town full of animals and have to…

Far Cry Primal a Great Opportunity

Far Cry Primal isn't even out yet, but the hype is very real. And for good reason, since the Far Cry series is one of the best current franchises this generation. However, the more we play a franchise, the greater the opportunity for stagnation, or for extreme boredom to set in. Despite the success of Far Cry 4, this seemed to be a constant narrative. "Far Cry doesn't feel fresh." So now we get Primal, a very different and very fresh take on the series, and it could not have come at a better time.

The Division Getting Minor Changes

Ubisoft has been releasing some pretty interesting games lately, and their upcoming online shooter, The Division, is no different. However, it was announced recently that some features originally promised are being pulled back. Originally, we were told that players would be able to trade/buy/sell weapons while waiting to load into games, but are now being told this will not be the case. Whether this is permanent or not was never confirmed, so we may see this reintroduced later.

Mario and Luigi Paper Jam Blends Nicely

Paper Mario games are great, although have been trending downwards since the release of The Thousand Year Door on the GameCube. The last release, Sticker Star, was lackluster to say the least, borrowing heavily from the 2D Super Mario games heavily by removing the 'open world' and replacing it with Worlds and Levels, i.e. World 1-Level 1. On the other hand, Mario and Luigi games have always been strong titles, and even Dream Team - despite its various faults and pacing issues - was still an excellent release. I have to assume that Paper Mario fans were intrigued by Paper Jam while Mario and Luigi fans were disappointed. There was nowhere to go but up for the Paper Mario series, and seemingly nowhere but down for Mario and Luigi. Fortunately, Nintendo and the developers of Paper Jam ...

Creating With “Bricks”: A Look At Discovery For the Wii U

A wonderful site called WiiWareWave had a contest on twitter to win a Wii U indie game called Discovery. Discovery is yet another brick creation game in the vain of Minecraft. I had already played two other block creation games (Cube Life for Wii U and The Magic Hammer for 3DS) and thought they were just ok. And yet, I keep wanting to like this genre. I love creating things. So, I entered the contest to win Discovery and, of course, I won. After a couple of days with the game, I decided it was time to talk about it. Is Discovery any good?

Using amiibo to Unlock Dungeon in Twilight Princess HD OK?

I don't think anyone was surprised that Nintendo announced Twilight Princess HD, and because of that, people also shouldn't be surprised that a Wii U - possibly NX? - title would have amiibo compatibility. Unlike other games that add minor things to the game - except perhaps Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam - it seems like amiibo in Twilight Princess HD will actually add more than just a costume. It appears as if this announcement has led to Internet outrage.

Our Tips for Playing Ark: Survival Evolved

If you've had the opportunity to play ARK: Survival Evolved, you know that the first number of hours can be incredibly frustrating. If you don't die a lot, you are probably doing it wrong. The game doesn't hold your hand in any way, which makes online guides so incredibly valuable. While we won't be putting something together that as in depth as some of the Wiki's already available, we will share with you our top tips for playing.

Opinionated Logan: Animal Crossing amiibo Festival

If reviews from popular gaming websites are to be believed, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival is at best a rarely fun experience, but generally a snooze fest, legitimately. Some reviewers said they fell asleep playing this. We picked up the title over Christmas, and sure, some of what these reviews are saying is legitimate. However - and I have spoken about this in the past - it shows a disconnect between hardcore Nintendo fans and the casual audience Nintendo continues to cater too. My son Logan falls into that second category.
