NES and Super NES – December Nintendo Switch Online Game Updates (Video)

Last night, Nintendo announced some new games coming to Nintendo Switch online’s NES and SNES lineup this month. Check out the video for previews of the games and then please come back for some thoughts on them.

Star Fox 2, Super Punchout, Kirby Super Star, and Breath of Fire 2 are coming to the SNES Switch online lineup on December 12. Journey to Silus and Crystalis are coming to the NES lineup on the same day.

Star Fox 2 made its first appearance on the SNES Classic. It had never been released before. Its Switch appearance is its first appearance on a regular Nintendo console. Star Fox 2 is an alright game. Not especially bad nor is it that good either.

Super Punchout is not a bad game. Really how much you like it depends on if you like boxing games or not.

Kirby Super Star is absolutely the gem of this lineup. Super Star is one of the best Kirby games ever released. Fans of the series still like this one a lot. If you’ve never played it, you are in for a treat!

Breath of Fire 2 is the second game in the franchise. It looks better than the first one. Its great to see another rpg added to the SNES lineup. Hopefully we’ll see more soon.

Journey to Silas is a sidescrolling action shooter. Its looks kind of neat. Never heard of it before though!

And finally Crystalis is an old school action rpg for the NES. Not sure how well it holds up, but back in the NES days, it was fun.
