More Thoughts From Me #288: It Was A Pokémon Christmas

Yes, Christmas is over! Wow. That went fast. And one of the things I got for Christmas was Pokémon Sword and its DLC! I haven’t checked the DLC out yet, I’m waiting till I’ve played through the full game, but I have played some Pokémon Sword. What do I think of it so far? Let’s talk about it.

I got Pokémon Sword (plus the DLC) for Christmas. As anyone who has read this column or anything else I’ve written knows, like my Brilliant Diamond review, I’m new to the series. I didn’t like Pokémon at all before. Then I gave Brilliant Diamond a chance and now I’m hooked.

I wanted Pokémon Sword for Christmas and I got it. What do I think so far?

I really like the game. Its way too early to say whether I like Brilliant Diamond or Sword more. I’ll have to wait till I’ve finished Sword to know for sure. For now, I’ll say that I like both games. Sword does bring some pretty cool, unique things to the table though.

My favorite part of Sword so far is the online. I like the surprise trades, where you can send off a Pokémon and then you just never know what Pokémon you’ll get back. Very neat. I also like seeing so many people in the Wild Area and teaming up with people to fight giant Pokémon.

Oh by the way, the giant Pokémon are amazing. These fights are EPIC. I’m a huge fan of the recent Godzilla and King Kong movies, so the giant fights are right up my alley. I enjoy them a lot.

I also like that Sword is more three dimensional and open than Brilliant Diamond. I do like BD’s old school look and feel but its cool to have something a bit more modern too.

The graphics are nice and so is the gameplay. Pokémon Sword is a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing the rest of the game and of course the DLC!

I have to admit I’m pretty excited for Arceus in January too.

What do you think of Pokémon Sword? Any tips for a newbie?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Now its time to get back to Pokémon Sword!
