Disney Magical World 2 a fantastic Remake
Although originally released on the Nintendo 3DS, Disney Magical World 2 has been given a remake on the Nintendo Switch, and while it does cater to a younger audience, the overall gameplay loop can be addicting for all ages. Whether completing quests for the Fab 5, decorating your home, or visiting one of the six Disney worlds, there is a lot to love here!

What We Don’t Like
Outside of Castleton, the worlds you are going to explore are very, very small. While some like The 100 Acre Wood is a decent size, others like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as well as Frozen and The Little Mermaid, are a bit disappointing. If you planned to roam the halls of the castle in Frozen, or swim around the open seas in The Little Mermaid, you will be greatly disappointed.
There are also moments in the game that make you say, “Why?” I enjoy most of the gameplay loop except when I need to enter the dream world and explore a photo frame and puzzle I put together. I really can’t see why it exists, and doing those parts to complete the game was a tad frustrating.
Also, where is the licensed music!
What we Did Like
Ok, who doesn’t want to explore Disney worlds, and interact with Disney characters? You can do that in spades, with over 100 characters to find and befriend, all of which provide quests, items, and more. And finding each of these characters was lots of fun, and the models created for the Switch version are pretty good. I did find some of the other non-official characters a bit lacking in detail, but the main Disney showpieces are outstanding.
What about that cafe? Honestly, I didn’t think the cafe aspect would be enjoyable long term, but would instead become a chore, having to go back and replace food that was sold. Even if you take away the need to earn money – which the cafe is a great source of – setting up parties and theming the room was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed throwing parties for Ralph and Penelope, Flynn and Rapunzel, and more. It was a good time, and actually forced me to go find resources and purchase the items, foods, and clothes I needed to throw the perfectly themed party!
Events exist in Disney Magical World 2, did ya know? Right now, you can enjoy a ton of festive themed items that will make decorating your house a lot of fun. I’ve got the tree the corner, the festive wallpaper and floor up, and more within my house. Further, the various characters around Castleton will dress up as well – the Goofy Christmas tree outfit is fantastic – and you can find a variety of decorations on buildings and trees to take pictures with.
If you are looking for something you and the kids can enjoy, and you are a big Disney fan, Disney Magical World 2 is a great place to be!
