Murkmire DLC is a Dreary but Fantastic Experience

The majority of the DLC released for The Elder Scrolls Online has been centred around a specific region that, sometimes in its own way, is both awesome to play through and beautiful to look at. With the latest release, Murkmire, that all changes. ESO has never been so dreary, and it’s fantastic!

It’s time to learn the backstory the Argonians who roam Murkmire, a swamp like land that is drab and dreary, to the extreme. No beautifully built cities, no colourful tree selections. Just swamp, greens and browns, and more swamp. It’s a crappy looking place, but one that Bethesda made fun to explore.

Like all the DLC packs, Murkmire provides new people to engage with, new quests to complete, new items to find, and of course another dungeon to master. It’s typical of the formula the development team has used for other releases, so nothing here is shocking or surprising. The world is wonderfully detailed, and although it lacks the sparkle and intrigue of other DLC launches, there is still something here to enjoy for all.

Mostly, it’s just about more content, and for those who have played through all the available content in ESO, having this next instalment will get people back into their characters, and back into the game.

The most intriguing addition to this DLC set is Blackrose Prison, a dungeon for up to four players who will move around the various corridors and areas fighting wave upon wave of enemies. It’s almost like a mini survival game within ESO, and while it seems odd to talk about it in the context of a sprawling open world RPG, it works really, really well.

For those who don’t enjoy these forced multiplayer dungeons, there is a new homestead to obtain and fill with all your useless crap, and a few world bosses to take down. While ESO is always more fun with friends at your side, we understand it’s not always possible, and so does the development team. This is a huge reason why I love supporting the DLC releases in for ESO. There is always enough content for all types of players, and no one feels like they are paying a premium for a sub par experience.

If you are looking for new content in ESO, or want to know more about Argonian culture, Murkmire is a DLC release you won’t want to pass on!
