More Thoughts From Me: Its Almost Morphin’ Time

The Power Rangers was one of my favorite tv shows as a kid. I watched that show every day and even went to see the movie. Soon Digital Eclipse is releasing a brand new Power Rangers game and I’m pretty excited about it. I get nostalgic and try to explain why I’m excited for the new game.

Flashback to the 90s: I’m a kid and I’m riding the bus home from school. I can’t wait to see the Power Rangers. The White Ranger saga is going on and we still don’t know who he is. I’m so ready to find out!

“Hey,” the kid in front of me says to another kid, “I know who the White Ranger is!”

And of course the kid tells the other kid who the White Ranger is.

This is my introduction to the “Spoiler”. Its pre-internet times so I don’t know what a spoiler is nor if this kid guessed or he read about who the Ranger was in a magazine. In either case, the kid is right and the mystery is spoiled.

Still, I loved the White Ranger reveal. One of my favorite characters was back! I continued to enjoy the show and I went to see the Power Rangers movie too. My Dad was not a fan of the show and I dragged him to the theater with me. The Power Rangers were one of my favorite things as a kid.

Basically, Power Rangers was my generation’s 60’s Batman show: campy superheroes trying to save the day expect sometimes the Rangers had giant robots too.

This is my long way of saying: I can’t wait to play the new Power Rangers game from Digital Eclipse!

As I watch the trailers for the new Power Ranger’s game, Rita’s Reward, nostalgia is ever present. The Power Rangers are so nostalgic of my childhood. And Digital Eclipse seems to have gotten every detail right: the costumes, the camp, the dialogue, the giant freaking robots, and more.

When I was kid, the sidescrolling beat ‘em up was one of my favorite video game genres too! So combine that with Power Rangers and you get a game I must play. I would have loved this as a kid. Heck, I’m going to love it as an adult.

I doubt I could go back and enjoy the Power Rangers tv show now but I have a feeling that I’m going to enjoy the Rangers game. I’ll check it out when I can and write about it on GamesReviews.com for sure.

Oh and here’s hoping that the White Ranger gets released as DLC!
