Micetopia
Welcome to Micetopia. A land populated by mice. Is this mice centric game worth a look? Here’s our review of Micetopia for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4!
Micetopia is a Metroidvania action platformer for the Nintendo Switch and the Playstation 4. I tried out both versions, although most of my playtime was focused on the Nintendo Switch version.
If you’ve ever played a Metroidvania before, then the gameplay here should feel familiar. Micetopia doesn’t really do anything unique or different. You explore areas where you will find yourself backtracking some and discovering new abilities and furthering along the game.
The story here is okay. Micetopia is very gameplay focused.
Perhaps the best thing about the game is its graphics. Its got a 2D pixel art look to. There’s a bit of cel-shading in there. Micetopia is a very good looking game. It looks the same on both the PS4 and Switch, though the graphics might look a little bit better on the PS4. Its hard to tell since both versions look good.
The game plays fine on both systems. It looks and play fine on the Nintendo Switch’s portable mode even.
Micetopia is a good game but we have seen a lot of what it does in other games. And I wish it was a little bit more forgiving. Unless you fine a portal out of a dungeon, you’ll find yourself going back to the beginning if you die.
If you are looking for a slightly challenging, nice looking Metroidvania, you could do worse than Micetopia. Either on the Switch or PS4, its a nice game.
Micetopia gets an 7.5 out of 10.
