Assassin’s Creed Origins: Predator Bows Key to Infiltration of Enemy Areas
Although your original starting point of Siwa will be light on the restricted areas you can enter, when the large world of Assassin’s Creed Origins finally does open up to you – especially in your first major city, Alexandria – you will realize that restricted zones are a dime a dozen. Enter them, and be prepared for a fight. Get spotted, and in certain situations, it is as good as a game over. There are ways to successfully enter, kill, and loot an entire location, but careful skill is needed to do this. Your weapon of choice in these situations? The Predator Bow.
Of course, as we noted in a previous article, it is always important to scout out an area first with Senu. After your initial scouting mission, and assuming you tagged all the enemies inside the zone, you might be able to see a noticeable hole where you can quietly sneak in. If this is the case, go for it, get inside, and stealth your way to victory. In other situations, however, these holes of entry are not always apparent, and often, they need to be created. Here is where the Predator Bow enters the conversation, my go to weapon for infiltrating an enemy restricted zone.
The Predator Bow acts like a sniper rifle in a sense, providing you with a scope, and doing a great amount of damage on impact, as long as you line up the perfect head shot. Of course, as in all combat situations in Assassin’s Creed Origins, you’ll need to make sure your level is close to the enmesh you are fighting, otherwise a single shot won’t be enough to take down the opposing enemy, and an alarm is bound to be raised.
Generally, restricted zones will have variety of on-the-road entrances, which are always a viable option for entering. Finding an entrance with only one patrol is key, as two guards will make getting in unannounced fairly difficult. After you’ve completed the first step – scoping out your entry point – it’s time to locate an area where you can stay out of view, but still have a clean shot on your target. The better the bow, the longer the distance between your position and your enemies. Shrubs that I can crouch down in are my preferred position for beginning and infiltration, but in the absence of that, I use distance to avoid detection.
If you seem like you are having less and less success with infiltrating enemy restricted zones, perhaps head over to your skill tree and see what bow upgrades you can get that might somehow increase your chances at success. So often I get so enthralled with the story that I forget all about my Skill Points. Last night I had 9 to spare, and it completely changed how I was playing the game once they were all spent!
What about you? Do you use a run-and-gun style when it comes to restricted zones, or do you pull out the bow and elimante as many targets as possible? Join the conversation on social media!
